Clarity
Objects which are stripped down to their bare essence, not to make them boring, but to bring out their main expressive quality. Too often ‘simple’ projects are dismissed as superficial and banal; it seems the more ‘complex’ or ‘advanced’ the better. But we propose the opposite: the simpler the project the more challenging and difficult it becomes; you don’t have the guise of complication to hide behind.
The initial inspiration for Amstelle was a certain fluidity and flow reminiscent of meandering rivers, especially the Amstel in the Netherlands, giving the distinctive signature to this family. By simplifying the key elements of this chair to it’s most essential, Amstelle has a certain quality suggesting that it has somehow always been with us.
The design is expressed through an asymmetrical 'drop' shape which fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, and the unmistakable three button design helps you navigate intuitively and confidently through your presentation.
Convertible furniture made transparent. The simple conversion mechanism that takes peel from vertical to horizontal is on display in this study in minimal elegance. Available as sofa, chaise longue or lounge chair.
